In the 60's some of the American shrimp fleet started
sailing down and work off
the coast of South America. Desco Trawlers in trying to meet the needs of the
fleet owners in trying to designed a vessels for the longer trips and stay out
longer.
Also Desco had to take in consideration that the weather patterns
and sea conditions
are opposite the northern hemisphere. This one vessel where they raised the
sheer in
the bow because the higher seas then the trawler that are built northern hemisphere.
Built these vessels with deeper hulls for more to carry more fuel for the distance
they
are having to sail and longer time to stay out at sea. There was changes made
to the
deck house cause weather patterns. They were fitted with freezers in their fish
holes.
